The deities truly exist here and while they never become directly involved in worldly matters they do exert massive influence through their temples and followers. There are three factions amongst the gods rather predictably divided into good, neutral and evil. Each faction is headed by a major deity with many lesser and demi god of varying degrees of power. Deities can grant certain aspected powers to favored individuals as well as imbue holy items with special abilities. The gods have different names in different cultures and places, but these are the most common known aspects.
In the Imperium: Pharas god of light, law and honor; Sharda goddess of birth death and nature; Nemis god of darkness, chaos and betrayal. In the Raj they are respectively; Ramajar, Devala and Katasha. In Malacca; Fazzual, Arack and Izul. In Arctical; Bal, Matha and Heles. Lastly in the Badlands; Ushak, Gshak, and Mshak.
The gods of this world are real and their powers have been made manifest many times. This being the case a priest or priestess has real power with the people and the Temples compete with the nobility as a power structure. Being a cleric can have real benefits in this world such as miraculous powers to those who are truly blessed and authority for any with the clerical investment. Being an invested cleric costs 10 points and bestows the following minor powers for any real cleric: Pharas-Light, Sharda-Immunity to disease, Nemis-Darkness, Ramajar-Detect Lies, Devala-Gift of Tongues, Katasha-Death Vision, Fazzual-Detect Water, Arack-Wizard Eye, Izul-Find Weakness, Bal-Know Direction, Matha-Waterproof, Heles-Warmth, Ushak-Healing Slumber, Gshak-See Secrets, Mshak-Pain. Being blessed gives magery but in restricted colleges only and all clerics have respect and political power as one never knows when the gods will actually listen to them.
